Union Square on Saturday was an inspiration stomping ground for young trendsetters enjoying the quintessential fall day. I, along with my fabulous NYC Style Gurus, hit the streets running to find people whose fashion was “Frye” worthy. We styled, we shoot, we got people hooked on Frye’s products and we gave away a pair of the Campus Zip 10 Boots!

We felt it necessary to extend our Frye boot giveaway contest to those students not located in the NYC area. Workout Apparel

Since I got certified as a kickboxing instructor I am teaching classes Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; and running Tuesdays and Thursdays. So, I am in a lot of workout apparel lately! I love the Champion line at Target, it’s cute and affordable. The sports bras come in like 10 different colors and I have every one. They are so comfortable, and colorful. They also have spaghetti racerback tanks with built in bras that are amazing, and lot’s of great pants. My sneakers of choice are the Nike Free Run +, I have the Livestrong ones. I can’t emphasize enough how comfortable these sneakers are. I’m so obsessed with them…they come in black, pink, purple, and teal as well.

To sum it up, if you are looking for cute, comfortable sportswear go to Target!!! And the sneakers can be found at Nike.com, Dicks Sporting Goods, and Foot Locker.

Tan Towel

If you know me, you know I’ve always been all about the fake tanners. Pretty much since middle school, when I would forget to do my feet, and have awkward, unnatural “sock tans.” I am still a little bit of a self tan freak, since my fair skin refuses to tan..ever, and I am smart enough now to realize that spending hours in the sun will not do anything for me except increase my chances of skin cancer. This was my original outfit for a lunch date with some girls yesterday-I ended up switching the pants for a black and white striped bandage skirt, for a more feminine touch (plus it was hot out). This outfit consists of a cream lace back tank, loose fitting white tee, denim vest with grey hood, tribal print scarf, bandage skirt, and canvas sneakers. I also wore my Ray Bans, a printed bangle bracelet, and brought along my floral print back pack from Urban Outfitters.

I love this dress from Urban Outfitters!! It’s adorable, and it’s only $48 :) It comes in a few different colors, but this spicy orange is my favorite. This dress can be extremely versatile too. Wear it with some flat sandals, and a messenger bag for day-wear. Then change it up with some neutral colored platform pumps and add some jewelry for a night out. Pink Perfection

Lately I’m all about a bright pink lip, with minimal makeup everywhere else. I suggest you try it out, and venture away from the heavy eye that’s getting old. You will be surprised how much this will change your look! I was hesitant at first, to stray from my usual smokey eye with clear gloss, but I’ve been wearing it all of spring semester, and I think it’s staying throughout the summer.

Here’s what you need:

Do your normal base face routine, but skip the bronzer ladies!!!! Instead get a light pink blush (mine has a tint of gold to it too) and just a little color on the cheekbones is all you need!
If you really need eyeshadow, made it a nude shimmer
Mascaraa
If you’re going to use eyeliner LIGHTLY line the outside corners of your eyes, less is more.
And last but not least, pucker up with your choice of bright pink gloss/lipstick!!!!

For My Full Figured Fraaaands <3

You may or may not know about Forever 21’s plus size line, for the most part they have some pretty good stuff. Today I decided highlight the differences in these two dresses, and why one works and one doesn’t, and this goes for all shapes and sizes, not just my full figured beauties.

The two pictures I have here, are of the same model, wearing dresses from Forever 21+. She looks bigger in the black and white stripe dress, and here’s why:

Horizontal Stripes- not only does this dress have horizontal stripes, which make everyone look wider, these stripes vary in thicknesses, and they get reeeeeeeeal thick right around the tummy area. Terrible. This draws your attention to her tummy immediately, and is not flattering.
The Silhouette- This dress is kind of a confused silhouette….it’s pretty much a straight cut, which won’t be flattering on anyone with any shape at all to their body. Think about it, imagine your body put inside a rectangle, shrink the rectangle so that the edges touch your body…what is actually touching? Your hips, tummy, thighs and butt. So there’s a lot of concentration in that general area, not great. This dress fits loose in the waist, and tight around the midsection.

Now in my DO dress this girl looks gorgeous, and rightfully so!! And here’s why:

The Print: This dress has the perfect medium sized, all over print. NOT HORIZONTAL. Take this print and imagine it smaller, this makes the body look bigger, because there are so.many.tiny.flowers…imagine the print larger, chances are there’s gunna be one flower on each boob, and one on each butt cheek, how lovely, now imagine giant polka dots..NEVER. So a medium sized scattered print works best ;)
The Silhouette: This dress is A-Line!! The best silhouette if you are self conscious about your mid-section, hips, or thighs. This dress comes in tighter at the waist line, then flows out, giving you a nice shape, with emphasis only on your waist. It also is going to trick the eye, you see the small waist, and your eye is going to follow the waist down in a straight line to your knee, virtually cutting off the parts you may not like about your body.
The Tie at the Waist: This little tie just adds extra emphasis on the waist line, making you look tiny.

Plussss, this dress is only $22.80, gotta love it.

Casual Dinner

The last few tops I’ve purchased have been similar to this one, printed and sheer. I put a bandeau top under it, and a cropped jean jacket over it. I’m pairing it with leggings, and a simple beaded sandal for the cooler weather we have tonight. For accessories I’m keeping it easy with some chunky bangle bracelets.

Style Tip: when wearing a shirt with a detailed neckline such as this one, DON’T wear a big necklace or earrings. This will bring too much attention to your upper half, making you look bulky.

So, for a few years now my friends have asked me to do some sort of blog showing my outfit everyday. I’m going to be honest with you, some days I do not leave my house. These days I am usually stalking my latest obsession online-usually a pair of shoes- looking for the best price on said item. Or scrolling through designer sale websites, looking for anything worthwhile. I have decided to share this information with you. What’s the difference from this and editorials you can read in Vogue, and other magazines? While we can admire the clothes in these editorials, most of us are in college, and can’t afford it. We can know these collections inside and out, what fabrics are used, and the designers inspiration- but for now, those brands are all a dream, that will someday live in our closets. I will be giving you fashion on a college students budget, armed with great websites, and ways to style up that top from Target.
